    More About Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is considered to be the flagship of laparoscopic surgery and the benchmark of all laparoscopic procedures in terms of efficacy, safety of the patient and success rates. It is believed to be the foundation of laparoscopic surgery. The procedure is commonly carried out in diseases like Cholelithiasis, Mucocele gallbladder, Empyema gallbladder, Cholesterolosis, Porcelain gallbladder, Acute Cholecystitis, gallbladder polyps or any other advanced ailments. The procedure of gallbladder laparoscopy is usually carried out in four steps. In the first step, pneumoperitoneum is created and trocars are inserted to reach the gallbladder. In the next step, adhesions between the gallbladder and the liver are separated to expose the peritoneal fold where the cystic artery and duct are located, next, dissection and occlusion of cystic duct and artery. In the final step, gallbladder is removed and the bleeding is controlled if any . This procedure is not only less invasive and less painful but also assures minimal tissue destruction, prevents complications and is cosmetically more convenient too.
