Tubal infertility is a very common cause of infertility in women and hence tuboplasty is performed as a routine procedure to treat tubal disorders and enable women to conceive ( in case they do not want IVF Or IVS is contraindicated ) . Laparoscopic tuboplasty can either be performed by means of a laparotomy, laparoscopy, microsurgery, electrocautery or mechanical dissection process.

Among the several reasons that may cause like infection , tubal disorders, one of the main causes is scar tissue that occurs due to endometriosis, gynecological surgery among few other conditions. These conditions are potentially responsible for infertility and reduces chances of conception.The surgery of fallopian tubes should however be performed carefully considering the risk factor of inflicting ectopic pregnancy which is a common complication after a tuboplasty. In such cases, a salpingectomy is done wherein the tube is removed. In certain cases where the patient has already Significant tubal damage but wants to achieve pregnancy, it can be risky and costly to perform a reversal surgery with lower chances of conceiving as compared to IVF.
