More about Laparoscopic surgery for development anomalies

Laparoscopy has been of significance in correctly diagnosing developmental and congenital abnormalities. It is a procedure that requires minimal invasion of the organ and can be completed faster. At our multispeciality hospital, we carry out three major laparoscopic surgeries for developmental anomalies:

Vaginoplasty

It is surgical procedure aimed that construction or reconstruction of the vagina to restore its normal structure and functions and is done to correct congenital defects of the vagina. Congenital absence of vagina can be restored with this surgery.

Uterovaginal Anastomosis

It is a surgical procedure used as an alternative to total hysterectomy used for the treatment of atresia of the uterine cervix which is a malformation associated with vaginal aplasia. Success rates of this technique have been satisfactory. We have published one of the finest reports in the world about successful laparoscopic utero vaginal anastomosis.

Hemi-hysterectom

This procedure is performed to correct maldevelopment of the Mullerian duct system that often results in congenital abnormalities like obstructed functional hemi uterus/horn. The process involves laparoscopic resection of uterus and fallopian tube and is often combined with laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. Unification of bicornuate uterus, surgery for Robert’s uterus are also offered at our minimally invasive surgery center.
