More About Piles Clinic

Piles can occur at any age, usually above 18 years of age and mostly occurs due to chronic constipation, chronic diarrhea, pregnancy or prolonged bowel disorders. Diagnosis of piles requires meticulous physical examination of the anal canal and supportive tests. Piles or hemorrhoids usually range from grade I to grade IV depending upon the severity.

Internal piles occur more often than external piles. Diagnosis of piles includes thorough study of the patient’s case history for any genetic predisposition, digital rectal examination for assessment of internal piles, proctoscope check-up. Under severe conditions, doctors may also recommend undergoing a colonoscopy if there are chances of developing colorectal cancer. As a part of the holistic treatment, doctors usually recommend lifestyle changes that include dietary changes, exercise, supportive medications, healthy sleep cycle, laxatives and surgical procedures.
